Several Quakes Shake Central, Southern California Within 2 Hours

CASTAIC (CBS SF) -- The U.S. Geological Survey has reported at least 5 earthquakes in Central and Southern California in the span of about two hours, Saturday night.

Two back-to-back earthquakes struck Southern California.

First, a 3.0 quake happened just before 7 p.m, about 8 miles north of Castaic. The second happened at 7:18 p.m. in the same area, and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.5. Residents in Los Angeles reported feeling both temblors.

Earlier, 3 smaller earthquakes struck Central California.

The first happened at 5:52 p.m. near the town of Ridgemark, and had a preliminary magnitude of 1.7. At 6:06 p.m. another quake occurred in the same area with a preliminary magnitude of 2.4. Then, at about 6:26 p.m., there was a small temblor 2 miles SSE Of San Juan Bautista. It had a preliminary magnitude of 1.9.

There were no reports of damages or injuries.
