San Rafael Kitchen Fire Displaces 7, Including Child

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A kitchen fire displaced one child and six adults Wednesday afternoon in San Rafael, fire officials said Friday.

Firefighters responded at 2:40 p.m. to the fire at an apartment at 550 Canal St.

The fire was brought under control at 2:55 p.m. and firefighters were able to keep it from spreading beyond the kitchen, according to fire officials.

The fire did less than $50,000 in damage, according to initial damage estimates, fire officials said.

The American Red Cross assisted the child and adults with temporary housing.
