Security Boosted In Burlingame As GOP Convention Comes To Town

BURLINGAME (KPIX 5) -- Amid the saws and construction workers at the Airport Hyatt in Burlingame, California GOP signs are starting to go up, and the convention preps are coming together.

"The hardest thing is trying to get everyone space. We've managed to get a lot of people in the room," Kaitlyn MacGregor, Communications Director for the Republican Party said.

There's no telling how many people will be there, but the California Republican Party says most events are sold out, especially ones with presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The biggest and most talked about even being Donald Trump's noon address.

With big names, come big security.

The Hyatt brought in its head of security, and dozens of extra security personnel for the event. The secret service does its sweep Friday morning, and local police will be joined by officers from other local state and federal agencies in anticipation of protests.

"I'm making combinations so everything goes smoothly and peacefully. I have contingencies in place for everything that could go wrong," Burlingame Police said.
