Santa Rosa Ice Cream Man Accused Of Drunk Driving Near School

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) – Authorities in Santa Rosa arrested a man selling ice cream that they said was driving under the influence near an elementary school Friday afternoon.

Sonoma County sheriff's deputies and the California Highway Patrol were called to the Roseland Gas Mart on Sebastopol Avenue, across the street from Roseland Elementary School, around 4:30 p.m.

According to authorities, a clerk at the gas station noticed a man driving an ice cream truck who pulled into the station, stumbled out of his truck and appeared intoxicated.

57-year-old Hardev Singh was detained and given a series of field sobriety tests. The CHP said the driver failed those tests and that he had a blood alcohol level that was more than four times the legal limit.

Singh was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving without a license.
