Man Dies In Friday-Evening Shooting In Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- Police in Santa Cruz Saturday morning are investigating a Friday shooting that left a man dead.

Officers responded at 7:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired in the area of River Street and North Pacific Avenue.

Responding officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and said there were no other injuries reported in the shooting.

Investigators received several different suspect descriptions from witnesses and are continuing to follow-up on witness statements.
