San Mateo Co. Sheriff's Vehicle Strikes Woman Leaving Mini-Mart Store, Victim Hospitalized

SAN BRUNO (KCBS)-- A young woman was transported to the hospital Monday morning after she was reportedly struck by a San Mateo County Sheriff's vehicle in San Bruno.

The incident involving the pedestrian happened near the intersection of San Mateo Avenue and San Bruno Avenue just west of Highway 101 and San Francisco International Airport, near San Bruno Caltrain Station.

The details surrounding the collision are unknown. Witnesses told KCBS that the sheriff's vehicle was headed north on second avenue and was turning onto San Bruno when they struck a young woman who emerged from a mini-mart store near the intersection and then crossed the street. Witnesses said the woman was in the crosswalk.

The woman's condition is unknown at this time. Witnesses said the woman was a neighbor from the area.

KCBS' Doug Sovern reported from the scene to say the scene of the accident was cleared by noon. There was no police presence when he arrived and there did not appear to be an investigation being conducted.
