San Leandro Suspect Arrested After Search Prompts SWAT Standoff, Shelter-In-Place Warning

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- San Leandro police say they have successfully arrested a suspect wanted for violent felony crimes after a standoff Thursday afternoon in the area of Washington Avenue and Castro Street.

Police sent out an alert shortly before 4:30 p.m. asking members of the public to avoid the area where officers were attempting to make the arrest, and advising residents in the area to shelter in place.

Police have not returned calls seeking information on the suspect.

No one was injured in the arrest, according to police.
