San Leandro Police Use Surveillance Footage To Arrest Burglary Suspect

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Investigators used surveillance footage to help catch a suspect in a burglary at a business in San Leandro earlier this week, police said Thursday.

The burglary occurred around 5 a.m. Tuesday at a business in the 1300 block of MacArthur Boulevard, where three suspects broke a front window and stole several dozen pairs of high-end eyeglasses, according to police.

Officers reviewed the store's video surveillance footage and determined what the suspects looked like, as well as the vehicle they used to flee from the business, police said.

About five hours later, detectives located the suspect vehicle and one of the suspects in the 9900 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, according to police.

The car was determined to have been stolen from Fremont earlier in the week and the suspect, Joseph Garrison, 30, of Oakland, was carrying some of the stolen property from the San Leandro burglary, police said.

Garrison was arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of the stolen vehicle.

The two suspects who remain at large were described as black men around 30 years old who are both about 6 feet tall and weigh about 200 pounds, police said.
