San Leandro Firefighters Knock Down 2-Alarm House Blaze

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF)— Firefighters in San Leandro knocked down a two-alarm house fire early Friday morning, an Alameda County fire spokeswoman said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation and no one was hurt.

Crews responded to a report of a fire in the 1900 block of Alvarado Street at about 3:50 a.m., fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

The blaze burned heavy in the first and second floors of the home, resulting in a second alarm response, but the bulk of it was in the rear of the home, Knowles said.

The fire was out around 4:35 a.m., but some area streets remained closed as of 6:00 a.m.
