San Jose Woman Arrested For Stealing Vehicle With Baby Inside

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose woman was under arrest for allegedly stealing a car with a baby inside.

The father of an 8-month-old child called 911 around 7:16 p.m. Sunday to report a woman had driven off with his car with his baby still strapped in the back seat, according to San Jose Police.

Responding officers scoured the neighborhood around Hopkins Ave and found the vehicle - with the baby unharmed and in the back seat - in a driveway along the 2000 block of Mabel Ave., according to a statement from Officer Albert Morales.

Officers searched the area and later found a suspicious vehicle with a lone woman in the passenger seat who matched the description of the woman who had driven off with the victim's car, Morales said.

The suspect, 36-year-old Terria Artiga, was booked into county jail Sunday evening for suspicion of kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle.
