1 dead, 3 injured in early-morning San Jose shooting

4 people shot in San Jose following early-morning disturbance

A shooting in San Jose early Friday morning left one person dead and three other people injured, police said.

The shooting happened on South 1st Street between West Virginia and Oak streets at about 3:43 a.m. The San Jose Police Department said officers responded to an after-hours business and found three men suffering from at least one gunshot wound each.

Officers began life-saving measures until medics arrived, and all three victims were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Police said shortly after, a woman arrived at a local hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound from the 1st Street shooting. 

One male victim later died of his injuries at the hospital, police said. The other three victims were expected to survive.

Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the event are still under investigation. One nearby resident said she heard loud noises and arguing before gunfire broke out.  

There was no suspect information disclosed; police said the suspect fled before officers arrived.

The victim's identity was withheld until his family members were notified. The killing was San Jose's 26th homicide of 2025.
