San Jose Sharks Players Help Raise Money For Sierra Lamar Search In Morgan Hill

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- San Jose Sharks hockey players helped raise money at Britton Middle School Wednesday to help find missing Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar.

15-year old Sierra went missing in March of 2012 while waiting for a school bus near her home. A former Morgan Hill grocery Clerk named Antoline Garcia Torres was charged with her kidnapping and murder based on DNA evidence. But Sierra's body was never found despite an extensive search.

Seven players, led by Logan Couture skated into town to sign autographs and raise money.

"The reason we did it is to bring awareness back to the public and remind people that she's still missing and she's still out there somewhere," Couture said.

Sharks fans were asked to donate $20 at the door. Sierra's parents called it an unexpected surge of support.

"Out of the blue, Logan Couture contacted us and said he wanted to help in any way he could, and this is what we came up with," Sierra's father Steve said.

Small search parties meet once a week to look for Sierra.
