San Jose Police Seek Driver Who Struck, Killed Pedestrian

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning in San Jose.

At around 3:05 a.m. officers responded to a report of an injured person near East Hedding and North 15th streets, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, officers determined the victim was in the roadway when a vehicle traveling east on Hedding Street struck him. The vehicle then fled the scene, according to police.

The identity the victim has not been released.

A description of the vehicle and the driver was not immediately available.

The incident marks the city's 42nd fatal collision this year, police said.
