11-year-old boy riding scooter hit, killed by vehicle in San Jose
A pre-teen boy riding a scooter was struck and killed in an intersection Tuesday afternoon, San Jose police said.
The crash happened in the area of Leigh and Camden avenues around 4:21 p.m. Police initially said the victim was a juvenile, but did not disclose their age. They later confirmed it was an 11-year-old boy riding a non-electric scooter north near a marked crosswalk
Units are currently in the area of Leigh Ave and Camden Ave for a report of a fatal auto vs pedestrian collision. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver involved remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Investigators determined a man driving a 2006 Chevrolet truck west on Camden hit the boy. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his name was not immediately released.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with officers, police said.
