San Jose Police Arrest Wanted Suspect After Search Triggers Shelter-In-Place Order

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- San Jose police arrested a suspect wanted on a felony warrant in a gang investigation following a search that caused a "shelter-in-place" order to be issued Friday afternoon.

The suspect fled from an apartment in the area of Vine and Grant streets around 3 p.m. when officers attempted to enter an apartment on a warrant, according to police.

Police asked the public to avoid the area, which is near the Interstate Highway 280 interchange with state Highway 17, and directed students and employees at a nearby school to shelter in place as a precaution.

However, police said there was no threat to the campus and officers helped direct parents of the school's students to another location to pick up their children, Morales said.

The suspect was located and arrested in the area around 6:15 p.m., police said.

The area was deemed safe and all roadways were reopened.

There were no other suspects at large, police said.
