I-280 in San Jose back open after officers respond to person with mental health crisis
SAN JOSE – Both directions of Interstate 280 are back open Thursday afternoon, after police responded to a person with a mental health crisis in the area, which led to the freeway being closed.
Shortly after 11 a.m., the agency announced that they had closed the freeway due to a potential jumper on the Meridian Avenue overcrossing. Northbound 280 traffic was diverted to Bascom Avenue, while southbound traffic was diverted to Highway 17 as a result.

CHP officials told CBS News Bay Area Thursday afternoon that the incident has been resolved and the roadway has reopened.
According to the San Jose Police Department, officers were initilaly called around 10:25 a.m. near Leigh Avenue and the 280 overpass. Police said a man had climbed over and was sitting on top of a fence.
Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and the man was able to come off the fence, police said. The man was transported to a local hospital.
