Police Investigate 1st San Jose Homicide Of 2014

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- San Jose police investigated the city's first homicide of 2014 Thursday morning, officers said.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., the San Jose Police Department received a call reporting that a person had been shot in the 1600 block of East San Antonio Street near South 33rd Street in East San Jose, police said.

 

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later, police said.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released, according to police.

No suspects are in custody and the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
