San Jose Firefighters Respond To Gas Line Fire

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters are waiting for PG&E crews to arrive at the scene of a gas line on fire near a commercial structure in San Jose Sunday afternoon.

The one-alarm incident was reported at 1:50 p.m. near a three-unit commercial building in the 4000 block of Harwood Road.

"It's right up next to the back of the building, but the building has not caught fire," San Jose fire spokesman Capt. Tim Miller said. "It's a cinder block building, so that's helping obviously."

Miller said that crews are in place just in case the building catches fire, but the gas line will have to be shut off before the fire can be extinguished. Firefighters have requested PG&E personnel at the scene.

No injuries have been reported. The commercial structure was vacant at the time of the fire, so evacuations were not necessary.

Further details were not immediately available.
