3-Alarm Fire Near San Jose State Destroys Garage

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— San Jose fire crews are on the scene of a three-alarm structure fire near San Jose State University.

Firefighters arrived to the scene at 10:35 a.m. Monday. Dispatchers said it appeared to be a garage on fire at 229 North 9th Street at East Saint James.

"This fire started in the rear of the building. It is a detached garage that is behind the residence," said Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido.

There were no reports of any injuries. KCBS reporter Mike Colgan arrived at the scene to report that firefighters had gotten the upper hand and knocked the blaze down.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
