San Jose fire crews put out vegetation fire near elementary school
San Jose fire crews extinguished a vegetation fire that began near a school on Wednesday.
The fire began just before 2 p.m. on the 5000 block of North First Street. The fire department said nearby George Mayne Elementary was asked to shelter in place as a precaution.

According to San Jose Fire, smoke and embers were blowing away from the school.
Crews put out the fire around 2:45 p.m.
