Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Brutally Beating Teen At Valley Fair Mall

SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) – Police in San Jose have announced an arrest in the case of the beating of a 17-year-old boy at the Valley Fair Mall earlier this month.

Authorities said 25-year-old Truong Huynh has been arrested on suspicion of felony battery for allegedly attacking Christian Rasner in the mall parking lot on March 11th.

Police said Rasner was at the mall with his friends when they were followed out of the mall and confronted.

During the attack, Rasner fell and hit his head, requiring emergency brain surgery. According to Bay City News Service, Rasner was still hospitalized Thursday.

There was early speculation that the incident was gang motivated, but police now say they don't believe that was the case.
