San Jose Gymnast Adds Whip, Nae Nae, Dab To Floor Routine At UCLA Competition

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose-born gymnast redefined what a gymnastics floor routine can look like at a competition at UCLA over the weekend.

Sophina Saáde DeJesus, a member of the 2009 U.S. Junior National Team and now a senior at UCLA, showed the crowd a hip hop-inspired routine - mixing in moves such as the Whip, the Nae Nae, the Dab among her impressive acrobatics.

Her blue hair also added to the fanfare at the competition.

DeJesus, while born in San Jose, grew up in Riverside County. She was previously a professional dancer and has appeared in a Missy Elliott music video. She now majors in sociology at UCLA.

Her routine took place at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Westwood on Saturday when the Bruins were matched against Utah.

The Bruins won the competition.
