San Francisco School Lunch Snafu Prompts New Contract

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) -- For many school students, lunch can't come soon enough. Since August 17th, many San Francisco schools found lunch didn't come soon enough.

According to records obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle,  between nine and 20 schools in the San Francisco Unified School District had issues with lunch and supper deliveries.  Preferred Meals, the company that provides schools with lunches was late on delivery, prompting a switch in contract.

By the third week of school the contract had been granted to Revolution Foods at a higher price tag.

Revolution foods will deliver at $56 a school instead of Preferred Meals' $38, causing an overall increase of around $500,000 this year.
