San Francisco Police Officer Investigated For Sex Assault

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) — San Francisco police officials are investigating whether an officer sexually assaulted a woman last month.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Tuesday that department spokesman Officer Albie Esparza says the department is not naming the officer during the investigation with the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

No information was released about the alleged victim.

Esparza says once the alleged sexual assault was reported, the officer was immediately placed into a job without contact with public. His gun was also taken from him, Esparza said.

Police declined to provide further details about the incident because both criminal and administrative investigations were underway, the newspaper reported.
