San Francisco Police Open Streets After Clearing 'Suspicious Package' Found In Inner Richmond District

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The San Francisco Police Department's bomb squad is investigating a suspicious package in the city's Inner Richmond neighborhood Monday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.

UPDATE 4:58 p.m.: San Francisco Police issued an email stating the suspicious package was determined to be empty and no explosives were found.

The package was reported at about 3:15 p.m. when someone found a box, about 20 inches wide and 20 inches high, on the sidewalk near the intersection of Geary and Arguello boulevards, San Francisco police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

Traffic in the area is being diverted while the bomb squad investigates the box, Gatpandan said.
