San Francisco Mayor Gives Homeless 72 Hours To Clear Out Of Homeless Encampment
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Homeless people living under a stretch of elevated freeway in San Francisco in a makeshift tent city, which has drawn complaints from neighbors, have been told they need to clear out of the area.
Mayor Ed Lee gave the homeless camped along 13th Street between Harrison and Division Streets 72 hours notice to vacate the area, KCBS Radio and KPIX 5's Mike Sugerman reported.
The encampment popped up months ago, but it grew when El Niño rains got heavier in December.

In addition to the more than 300 tents, there was at least one makeshift cabin with a few comforts that could be found in any living room.
Some of the homeless in the area had already been told to move and were headed toward a homeless shelter at Pier 80.
