San Francisco Man Hit On Head With Mallet During Argument With Neighbor

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was allegedly hit on the head with a mallet during an argument with his neighbor in San Francisco's Mission Dolores neighborhood early Monday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

A 58-year-old man was hit around 1 a.m. in the first block of Dolores Terrace, near Dolores and 17^th streets, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman.

The victim told police he got into an argument with his neighbor, who then allegedly hit him on the head with a mallet, Newman said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with head injuries not considered life-threatening, she said.

The suspect, 55-year-old Arthur Galster of San Francisco, was taken into custody on aggravated assault charges, Newman said.
