Person killed in San Francisco Highway 101 crash

A fatal collision was reported early Monday morning on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said patrol officers were alerted around 12:50 a.m. that a crash happened on the freeway's southbound lanes near the Cesar Chavez Street off-ramp in the city's Potrero Hill area.

Two southbound lanes in the area were shut down due to the collision. Around 2:50 a.m., the highway was fully reopened.

There were no further details about the crash immediately given.
