Residents Escape 2-Alarm SF Mission District Fire, Firefighter Injured

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — A San Francisco firefighter was injured as crews put down a two-alarm fire in the Mission District Thursday morning near the Central Freeway.

The fire started about 6:10 a.m. at a two-story building in the 1400 block of Stevenson Street, near Valencia Street. Neighbors say it's a loft and art space.

The fire was put out within an hour of the emergency call.

There were initial reports of residents trapped on upper floors, but they were all able to escape and everyone was accounted for as of 7 a.m.

The firefighter was injured when he fell about 6 to 10 feet at the scene of the blaze, a dispatcher said.

It was not immediately clear how or on what floor the fire started.
