San Francisco Embarcadero BART Station Reopens After Person Reportedly Hit By Train
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- All service in and out of San Francisco's Embarcadero BART station was shut down after a person was reportedly hit by a Richmond-bound train Wednesday afternoon.
Service was interrupted shortly before 3 p.m., and Embarcadero station was closed.
A witness told CBS San Francisco producer Nicole Jones the person survived the jump.
"It was almost like an angel lifted him up. He almost got splattered. I've never seen anything like it in my life," Rashon Sturdivant said.
However, BART officials told KCBS radio that a person slipped and fell off the platform and was helped back up.
Trains initially could not get from San Francisco to the East Bay via BART, but were able to slowly single track through the station.
The station reopened around 3:40 p.m.
