San Francisco Court Workers Strike For One Day

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Court workers in San Francisco are standing on the picket lines Tuesday morning as they plan to shut down operations for the day.

Union workers picketed last month over charges that management has violated state labor laws by bargaining in bad faith.

According to San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi, the courts are open today but that the strike may impact operations moving forward.

"Ninety-eight percent of the courts, both in the civil and criminal court houses, are on strike today and so the court rooms are still functioning. However, the clerks playing a central role, so we're fortunate that it's only a one-day strike." Adachi said.

The workers last held a one-day strike in 2012.
