Early Morning Carjacking Leads To Chase, Crash Near AT&T Park

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Three people were arrested after a carjacking in San Francisco's Richmond District that led to a pursuit and crash near AT&T Park, according to police.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was parked on Clement Street near 24th Avenue and smoking a cigarette outside his car around 3 a.m. when he was approached by a man holding a backpack in front of his chest, police said.

When he got closer, the man moved the backpack so the victim could see the outline of a gun and told the victim to move.

The victim ran across the street and saw three suspects get into his car and drive away south on 24th Avenue and then east on Geary Boulevard.

Responding officers located the stolen sedan and pursued it to Second and King streets, where it crashed into a light pole and parking meter, police said.

Two suspects remained in the vehicle, while a third tried to flee on foot. All three were arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Police have not yet released the suspect's identities pending their booking into San Francisco County Jail.
