SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A dog died and a woman was seriously injured when she jumped from the third floor of an apartment building in a fire that started Friday afternoon in San Francisco's Outer Richmond neighborhood, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 4:49 p.m. in a three-story, seven-unit building in the 800 block of 48th Avenue, not far from the ocean.

Police got to the building first and started rescuing people and firefighters arrived and raised ladders to rescue three from the building's windows, fire department spokesman Lt. Jonathan Baxter said.

A total of five were rescued and a total of five were injured.

Baxter said the fire has been extinguished and is not suspicious.

Ten people have been displaced and they are getting help from the American Red Cross and city employees.
