San Francisco Announces World Series Public Viewing Event At Civic Center Plaza

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- As it has done in previous World Series years, San Francisco will host a public viewing event for Tuesday's World Series Game 6 to be played in Kansas City.

Mayor Ed Lee announced the live broadcast in Civic Center Plaza for the potential championship-clinching game for the Giants who hold a 3-2 series lead over the Royals following Sunday's Game 5 victory.

The mayor's office said it was collaborating with the Recreation and Park Department and Major League Baseball to offer the game broadcast on a jumbotron screen. First pitch is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. Tuesday.

"Our Giants have shown their magic once again as this improbable group of players refuses to quit," Mayor Lee said in the statement. "The game that could clinch may be in Kansas City, but we're creating an October Together opportunity in front of City Hall for families to gather and cheer on the Giants."

The event was designated as family-friendly and the SF Police and the Rec and Park Departments will be instituting a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and other controlled substances in the plaza.
