Salinas Man Found Guilty Of Child Molestation, Faces Up To 258 Years In Prison

SALINAS (BCN) – A Salinas man has been found guilty of committing 19 counts of child molestation on two victims, Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine Pacioni announced Friday.

Luis Ceja Nunez, 44, was found guilty of the 19 violent felonies and faces up to 258 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 1. Nunez will also have to register as a sex offender for life.

In December of 2019, a victim reported Nunez, who is a family member abused the victim continuously from when he was around 7 or 8 years old until the victim was around 14 years old.

The victim's sister also reported Nunez sexually assaulted her from when she was 5 years old until she was 12 years old.

Both victims reported Nunez repeatedly told them not to tell anyone about the molestation, prosecutors said.

The victims said they waited several years to report the crimes, because they were embarrassed about what happened to them, and because they had loved Nunez.
