Salinas Field Worker Allegedly Stabs His Dinner Host, Steals Truck And Flees

SALINAS (CBS SF) -- Sheriff's deputies in Monterey County are searching for a 22-year-old field worker after he allegedly stabbed a coworker with a kitchen knife and stole the victim's truck Friday night.

Around 8:44 p.m., Friday, deputies responded to a home in the 700 block of San Juan Grade Road, north of Salinas.

Eduardo Cardenas, of Salinas, had been over to the victim's home for dinner. Cardenas allegedly stabbed the victim in the torso with a kitchen knife before stealing a truck and fleeing the scene, according to deputies.

The victim was transported to a hospital by ambulance. Efforts to find Cardenas in the vicinity of the victim's home were unsuccessful, deputies said.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black 2006 Toyota pickup, license No. 8S60419.
