Roof Partially Collapses On San Jose building

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A  roof partially collapsed at a business in North San Jose Monday morning. There were no injuries.

San Jose Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido said crews responded to a report of a fire alarm activated in the 2100 block of Ringwood Avenue shortly after 8:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found no signs of a fire, but learned the building's water flow alarm turned on because of a partial roof collapse that broke piping in the structure, Salcido said.

Hazardous materials and search and rescue crews were called to the scene.

Firefighters found no one was inside or trapped in the building, according to Salcido. No injuries were reported.

The water system was shut down and it is probable the collapse was weather-related, according to Salcido.

The one-story structure is a mixed-use building with a warehouse and office space.
