Rohnert Park Woman Arrested In Death Of Her Baby In Montana

ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) -- A Rohnert Park woman was arrested after she turned herself in to Sonoma County Sheriff's Office officials Friday in connection with the 2012 death of her infant child in Billings, Mont.

Amanda Rose Steffan, 23, turned herself in shortly before 11 a.m. Friday and was arrested around 5 p.m. on suspicion of homicide, according to Sgt. Shannon McAlvain.

Police officials in Billings, Montana say an autopsy of Gilbert's daughter revealed the child had injuries consistent with "some sort of foul play," but the cause of death was inconclusive. The mother and father were suspects in the case.

Gilbert has been booked without bail due to a pending out-of-state arrest warrant, McAlvain said.
