SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- A man died trying to protect his mother from robbers in San Francisco.

The victim was 33-years-old. He leaves behind two children and a devastated wife.

Teng Fang can't believe it. Her husband, Da Cong Wu, was with his mother Tuesday night, visiting a friend at the intersection of Sunnydale Ave. and Sawyer Street. That was where a robber stuck a gun in his mother's face.

According to family members, Da Cong Wu hustled his mother into his car. He tried to drive off, but the robber fired seven shots into the car.

Wu was declared dead at the scene and the killer got away.

"I have been here two years," Fang said. "I know nothing. No English. No friends. No relatives. Without my husband, it is the same as losing both my eyes."

Fang says her husband was a truck driver. She is a cleaner. He leaves behind two daughters, pre-school age.

"I feel helpless now," she said. "I don't know how to make a living and take care of the two children. At the end of this month, I need to pay the rent. I do not know what to do."

Police are asking for help trying to find the killer. Fang is also looking for help to bury her husband.
