Richmond Man Arrested For San Leandro Burglary

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Police in San Leandro arrested a Richmond man Thursday morning after an alert resident reported the crime as it was in progress.

A resident returned to her home in the 500 block of West Merle Court at about 11:30 a.m. when she noticed the front door was ajar, police Lt. Randall Brandt said.

The resident went to a neighbor's house and reported the incident to police. When officers arrived, they located the suspect - 20-year-old Bernard Curry - walking away from the home, Brandt said.

Brandt said the suspect attempted to flee but was detained shortly after without incident.

Curry was booked into jail on suspicion of the robbery.
