Residents Of SF Tenderloin Celebrate Healthy-Food Makeover For Amigo's Market

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Residents of the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco Sunday celebrated the makeover of Amigo's Market during the Sunday Streets: Tenderloin event.

A ribbon-cutting and comments from community leaders were scheduled for 11 a.m. at Amigo's Market at 500 Ellis Street.

The transformed market is giving a front seat to fruits and vegetables and the back seat to alcohol, tobacco and junk food.

A mural at the front of the store welcomes patrons and neighbors.

Residents and visitors to the store Sunday participated in taste tests, took store tours and learned how to shop and cook healthy meals.
