Tense Oakland Gunman Search Ends With Arrest
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An armed man who barricaded himself in an Oakland backyard Thursday morning has surrendered to police ending a tense standoff, authorities said.
The incident began with with 7:25 a.m. 911 call reporting a man armed with a rifle near International Blvd. and 58th St. Oakland police responded with several dozen officers and a SWAT team.
A perimeter was setup and teams carefully searched backyards for the alleged gunman. The gunman was located and a negotiation by police officers began.
"We are taking our time and asking for a safe and peaceful surrender," police said in a twitter post.

At around 10:15 a.m. the standoff ended and the suspect taken into custody.
