Red Flag Fire Warning Issued For Bay Area This Weekend

MONTEREY (CBS SF) -- The National Weather Service has issued a red flag fire warning for the North and East Bay hills over the weekend due to predicted hot temperatures, low humidity and strong offshore winds.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 80s and 90s on Sunday, with gusty winds starting Saturday night and continuing into Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The winds may be strong enough to bring down power lines or small branches in the North and East Bay hills, according to the National Weather Service.

The red flag warning will be in effect from 11 p.m. on Saturday until 5 a.m. on Monday in Napa, Marin and Sonoma counties on hills above 1000 feet in elevation, according to National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin.

The same warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday in the East Bay and Santa Cruz mountains on hills above 1000 feet in elevation, Benjamin said.

"Conditions are dry, and it's going to be windy," Benjamin said.
