Rain Boots In Short Supply Day Before Strong Storm Expected To Hit Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A big storm with strong winds and torrential downpours is rapidly approaching the Bay Area, giving residents a reason to dust off the rain boots -- if they're lucky enough to find any locally.

CBS SF called several stores in San Francisco Wednesday which reported a shortage of galoshes. Union Square's Nordstrom said they have one pair of black Hunter boots left and several Burberry boots available, if you're willing to shell out $350.

A sales representative at Nordstrom Rack on 9th Street said they've seen an upsurge of rain boot sales this week, and even after getting an extra shipment of boots, are already down to about 10 pairs.

Yesterday, shoppers reported not seeing any rain boots on the racks at Bloomingdale's in the Westfield Shopping Center. But when CBS SF called, a sales representative said they now have about 60 pairs available, although many cost over $150.

Neither of the two San Francisco Targets or Payless Shoes sell rain boots. REI, DSW Shoe Warehouse and Sports Basement all reported having a variety of rain boot styles still in stock.
