Quake Strikes In Nevada Near California, Oregon Border

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A moderate earthquake has hit a remote part of Nevada near the border with both Oregon and California.

The quake, with an initial magnitude of 4.1, hit at 8:16 a.m. some 42 miles from Lakeview, Oregon, or about 116 miles from Susanville, California. That's roughly 190 miles due north of Lake Tahoe.

The initial USGS report listed the depth at 0.0 kilometers which, if accurate, means it would likely be felt by anyone living in the area.

There have been no initial reports of damage or injury, but assessing the impact may take time due to the remote location.
