Production Worker Dies In Industrial Accident At BottleRock Festival Site

NAPA (CBS SF) -- A production worker at the BottleRock festival site in Napa was killed in an industrial accident Tuesday, according to firefighters.

The Napa Fire Department announced via Twitter at 6:43 p.m. that crews had responded to the Napa Valley Expo, which is listed at 575 Third
St.

Firefighters initially said the worker was injured while dismantling a stage, but later clarified that he'd been breaking down a VIP lounge area.

The victim has been identified as a 35-year-old Mateo Zavaleta Zarate, who was working for Top Productions in Richmond.

Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said Zarate was killed when he was dismantling a large metal A-frame tent used for the VIP lounge at the festival.

The state Division of Occupational Safety and Health was investigating the accident, Blower said.
