Producer Seller $1M Richer After Buying Scratcher In San Francisco Store

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A Stanislaus County produce seller is one million dollars richer after purchasing what was thought to be a losing Scratchers ticket from a San Francisco retailer, lottery officials said Friday.

Pascual Morales won $1,000 from a $10 Silver & Gold Scratchers ticket earlier in May, according to lottery officials.

Morales' good luck, however, didn't end there. Weeks later, he went to the California Lottery's Central Valley District Office with another 'non-winning' Silver & Gold Scratchers ticket purchased from Mike's Liquors & Groceries, located at 2499 Mission Street, and won $1 million.

Lottery officials said, like all Lottery Scratchers games, Morales' second ticket also came with a second chance to win a great prize, lottery officials said.

Any non-winning ticket can be entered into the Lottery's 2nd Chance Program, where players can enter to win up to $25,000 and are automatically entered to the weekly pool drawing.

Mike's Liquors & Groceries will also receive a bonus of $5,000 for selling the top-prize winning ticket, according to lottery officials.
