Prince's 'Purple Rain' Expands To More Movie Theaters

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) – Prince's iconic film Purple Rain returned to theaters, the weekend after the entertainer's death on April 21st. The demand to watch the movie on the big screen was so great that AMC and Warner Bros. decided to expand the release to over 200 theaters nationwide.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Purple Rain "...had the highest percentage of sold-out shows of any title playing in those 87 cinemas." Prompting the theater chain to expand the film out to more theaters to meet with public demand.

Since Saturday, Purple Rain shown twice a day at AMC Metreon 16 in San Francisco and at AMC Mercado 20 in Santa Clara. Starting this Friday, April 29th, Purple Rain will show in 212 AMC Theaters across the country.
