NorCal Man Wins $638K Powerball Ticket Bought In Santa Cruz; Matches 5 Of 6 Numbers

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) – A retiree from the Sacramento area came forward to claim a $638,000 prize after matching five out of six numbers in Wednesday's record Powerball drawing.

Albert Graham, a retired concrete worker from Carmichael claimed his winnings Thursday, according to a statement from the California Lottery.

The 79-year-old and his wife were vacationing at their condo in Santa Cruz when they bought the winning ticket earlier this week at a Chevron station on Soquel Avenue.

While Graham matched the numbers 4, 8, 19, 27 and 34 in Wednesday's $1.5 billion drawing, Graham selected the number 6 for the Powerball, instead of the winning number 10.

Graham told lottery officials that the money would go to his children and grandchildren, and possibly a trip to Hawaii.

A total of 12 tickets sold in California matched five of six numbers, but 10 tickets remain unclaimed as of Friday morning.

Among the unclaimed tickets worth $638,000 include a ticket sold at the Larkfield 76 in Santa Rosa, a ticket sold at the 7-Eleven on Nut Tree Road in Vacaville, and a ticket sold at the Quik Stop in Cloverdale.

The $1.5 billion jackpot went to three winners, with one of the winning tickets sold in Chino Hills, in Southern California.
