Post Office Offering $10,000 Reward After Marin Mailbox Explosion

WOODACRE (CBS SF) – The United States Postal service is offering a reward for information on who blew the bottom off of a Woodacre drop box over the weekend.

Someone set off a series of explosions at the Post Office branch on San Geronimo Valley Drive around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to the Marin Independent Journal. The bottom of that box gave way, sending mail flying across the street. Letter carriers were able to retrieve and deliver the mail.

It was not clear what form of explosives were used in the blasts.

The $10,000 is for an arrest and conviction in connection with the crime, which carries a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the USPS tip line at 877-876-2455.
